A book recommendation for
Hermann the child and the things by Harrie Geelen.
Hermann is still a child. Things to talk around him and he, the child may talk about things. This explains a lot, as the mourning. Thus, solving a problem as the thirst. Thus, Hermann asleep the child during thunderstorms.
The light switch,
the vase,
the doll without a head,
the clean shirt,
the fire truck with the real leader,
the handkerchief
the chair
the alarm clock,
the block box
the spoon,
the medicine bottle, the
Trommelaffe,
the head of the doll without a head,
the rug,
the book.
These are all things that somehow knows every child. In seven short stories, they prove to be extremely helpful to share things or to make tangible that can not be expressed in one word. Thoughtless things, feeling things, as that is when in bed at night there is the thirst, if Hermann is waiting for Mom, waiting for a baby when a thunderstorm accompanied by falling asleep, illness, grief, a philosophical trip to the origin of stories is hide under the bed and come forth again.
There is no telling the stories and no teacher, never a single answer, only the view of a chair on which a handkerchief, is the testimony of a handkerchief, the opinion of a light switch, what a vase ... And things do not just talk, they can also do a lot for Hermann the child. You can help him hiding in Heal, in overcoming a dark hallway to fetch water. They answer to a question and deal with storms, if one is there, every thing in its own way.
A kind of self-talk.
I know the book for at least seven years and wanted to write a recommendation for months - but how? On the idea of bring the stories with self-talk the name, I was only recently when re-reading. Talking to things is yet, so I thought, as we talked with yourself For the answer, which give one the things that you can give them is, but not from things but from a self
Hermann consider the child and the things so may seem exaggerated. There is a children's book that looks at all the great pictures, pictures on every page! In the children's book, it is normal for items such persons may speak and act! Yes, normal, and, I think, sort of very healing. My approach has been inspired by two books by Klaus Lange, who writes the following:
people travel anywhere and communicate with others, wherever they are on Earth. The journey to the self and the communication with themselves with us, however, largely unknown.
